I'm not sure how I got a message but I did and so I'm writing to this blog once again. I haven't been stitching much lately because I have been obsessed with beads. I am intrigued by all of the vintage brass and copper components available these days. I also find I really like working with seed beads. I have stitched up some bracelets using seed beads and crystals and they were really fun to do.

I spent last night getting my Emblem Club mailing done and will get it out in tomorrow's mail. Just two more thank yous to do and I will be caught up. Then I can focus on personal matters, like beading.

We're back from Monterey. It was a long drive over and an equally long drive back. The weather cooperated although we had a few sprinkles just before we got to Patterson. I was intrigued by the acres and acres of artichoke plants around Castroville. They go on as far as the eye can see. I knew Castroville considered themselves the artichoke capital of the world but I had never seen the fields before. Now I see why they feel that way.

It was wonderful to see my cousins again. We had a good showing although not all of them were there. It is difficult to get all of us together at one time but we manage to do it every five or six years. It was also good to see Carson and Christina, my nephew and niece. Carson is 13 now. That is so hard to believe. It seems like only yesterday we went over to Los Gatos to wait for him to enter the world. Christina is a beautiful young lady who loves softball and hopes to get a softball scholarship. She is currently playing for the Lady Sharks from San Jose.

I did manage to get a little stitching done, although not as much as I would have liked. We got a late start leaving town and it got dark before we got there. The same thing happened on the way home today. We stopped in Patterson at my folks' house to see the puppies on the way home. They are dog-sitting English Bulldog puppies that are three weeks old. They are roly poly and soft as they can be. Pretty cute. They are growing fast.

And so it begins.

I have created this blog because I want to keep track of my projects. Mostly it will be about stitching but sometimes it may be about something else. I have been stitching for many years and have accumulated quite a stash. I hope to find ways to organize and reduce my stash. Hopefully this log will keep me on track and show myself and others what I have accomplished.

Today we leave for Monterey to have an early Thanksgiving with my dad's family. It is a four hour drive each way so I will have time to stitch or read. I look forward to that.

Yesterday I received Catherine's Arm Chair Pin Keep by Indigo Rose in the mail from Elegant Stitch. This is the second wonderful treat received from them in a week. Last Friday it was Ghosties and Ghoulies by Brightneedle. Both are very charming designs and I cannot wait to get started on them. As a matter of fact, I took the Pin Keep out of the bag and basted it last night. I tried my hand at the bullion stitches in the middle of the pin cushion but I am not happy with my results. I have never done these before so I think I need to practice on a piece of practice linen until I get the hang of them.

I am also working on Random Thoughts by Drawn Thread. I am halfway down on it. I am currently stitching the verse which is over one. Once I get that done, the rest of it should go rather quickly.

I also have Prairie Schooler's 2005 Limited Edition Santa in my workbasket. It is over halfway also. This is the first time I have worked with Crescent Threads. They are very nice to work with. I hope more designers start designing with them. I really like using the overdyed threads.

It is time to leave the computer and get ready to leave. I can hear the bear moving around in the other room. I think he is getting ready to come out of his cave so it is time to get going.
