We're back from Monterey. It was a long drive over and an equally long drive back. The weather cooperated although we had a few sprinkles just before we got to Patterson. I was intrigued by the acres and acres of artichoke plants around Castroville. They go on as far as the eye can see. I knew Castroville considered themselves the artichoke capital of the world but I had never seen the fields before. Now I see why they feel that way.
It was wonderful to see my cousins again. We had a good showing although not all of them were there. It is difficult to get all of us together at one time but we manage to do it every five or six years. It was also good to see Carson and Christina, my nephew and niece. Carson is 13 now. That is so hard to believe. It seems like only yesterday we went over to Los Gatos to wait for him to enter the world. Christina is a beautiful young lady who loves softball and hopes to get a softball scholarship. She is currently playing for the Lady Sharks from San Jose.
I did manage to get a little stitching done, although not as much as I would have liked. We got a late start leaving town and it got dark before we got there. The same thing happened on the way home today. We stopped in Patterson at my folks' house to see the puppies on the way home. They are dog-sitting English Bulldog puppies that are three weeks old. They are roly poly and soft as they can be. Pretty cute. They are growing fast.
